What should I do to help with my french?

Hi

So I am studying french for AS and want to get an A grade. (AQA)

Some things I do to help already:
- Reading articles on http://www.clubic.com/ (only very few though..)
- Talk to french people online (text chat)
- Play CS:GO with french people (and listen to them on teamspeak, don't speak in french with them though I don't think they would understand me :colondollar:)
- Browse www.reddit.com/r/french
- Listen to french music http://www.adofm.fr/player.php

We do practice essays every 2 weeks and with no revision/preparation (we are told the topic) I can usually get a C/D (sometimes E if it's a stupid Q like "What is the importance of young people listening to music >.<) and a high C/B with some preparation. Although I am told I lose most of my marks on the "content" section...

I really want to get A in french !!

Merci beaucoup tout le monde

You should use an app called 'Duolingo' it is one of the best language learning apps on the market, arguably on the same level as the Rosetta Stone CD's.

I managed to almost speak fluent French in a matter of months thanks to it, it probably won't help with essay questions, but it would definitely be something to use to brush up on your speaking and listening skills.

If you're losing marks for content, what you're writing isn't up to standard, so either you aren't structuring your essays properly, you aren't developing your points, anything like that.

To improve here, you should practice writing outside of college, you don't have to write a full essay every day, you could practice writing introductions one week, how to write a developed point the next, it's up to you, but by doing this step-by-step you will improve.

If you find that you run out of things to write easily, which could be a reason for losing content marks, it may be valuable for you to write up notes for each of your topics, and then you can see where you need to work. You can use these to revise from. (This is what I'm doing at the moment)

I did an essay in class the other day, and I lost a few content marks simply because my conclusion didn't make sense after the points I'd made

Bon courage .
