Welcome to the wonderful world of the human condition?

I guess I'm asking how I should make my life pleasurable and stop it affecting me?

Stop being pretentious enough that everybody else's imperfections bother you so much because they're symptomatic of some perceived lack of worthiness of humanity to be the species you belong to?

I'm not really tlaking about vulnerabilities or 'imperfections'. I'm talking about deliberate loathsomeness, which is entirely different.

Semantics. The principle is the same. The fact that not everybody else is a virtuous and selfless being has really got nothing to do with you, and the fact that you're letting it bother you so much suggests that you have your head up your ass, quite frankly.

Maybe if you descended from your cloud you might realise that there exists some good as well as some bad amongst the meagre festering masses that you are forced to tolerate.

Try turning it round and seeing the good in people...it's usually there somewhere.

Why are people "deliberatly loathsome"? Because they are human and at that particular time they are feeling insecure and need to lash out/put someone else down so thay can make themselves feel better inside.

You have probably started this thread for exactly the same reason....

Oh I know good exists. And I don't expect people to be utter Mother Theresa figures. It's just when I'm faced with creepiness, insincerity and the rest, I cannot bear it. I don't quite see what that has to do with having my 'head up my ass'(Which is usually what thoughtless people say about anybody who remotely intellectual)

Ever heard of live and let live.....concentrate on developing a forgiving and understanding personality and you will use your experience of all these people you don't like to your advantage.

Hopefully you will then become pleasant and less judgmental..a win win situation!

How will I use it to my advantage?

But you yourself are being 'terribly' human in the way that you're judging all these people around you. You clearly think you're better than them, they probably think they're better than you. You're both the same.

Wow, what a fantastically cutting demonstration of your ratiocinative faculties.

Clearly my contention that you have your head up your ass is because I am a mere unintelligent mortal who is clearly incapable of comprehending the complex and advanced thought processes of someone as "remotely intellectual" as yourself, rather than the fact that you sound like someone who goes around overthinking absolutely everything and assuming that absolutely everybody should be perfect like you.

Damn. I shall have to take more care in future not to dismiss people as having their heads up their asses in such a cavalier fashion, when the truth is that I am merely incapable of grasping the complexities of their thoughts.

You can't change anyone elses beahviour.

You have to change yours.

By being more tolerant you will reach your aim as quoted above.

Calm down. I never once mentioned being overly complex, or being perfect. You've projected them onto me to make me sound worse. I just mentioned certain traits which I find depressing and beyond the pale. Nor did I say that there aren't plenty of people I like, merely that I am sesitive to loathsomeness where it occurs.

What letting people degrade you and walk on you?

Yeah, when it comes to other people, the concept of "live and let live" is really important. I've come across a lot of people whose behaviour I don't agree with, but when it comes down to it you have to just accept that not everyone has the same values as you. In time you can accept that unfortunately people you don't like will always exist, you just have to avoid them and concentrate on the good people you know.

Oh and OP, I don't think you have your head up your ass at all, when you seem to see so many bad points to people it's sometimes difficult to accept.

Everybody gets pissed off when they see people being assy towards each other.

The difference is they get over it and get on with their day rather than dwelling on the depressing reality of what is the collective filth of humanity.

Or something.

Have you never heard of Gandhi? Or pacifism?

be calm, don't react, be forgiving

How does that aid me? Or give them less satisfaction?

Because if you detach yourself from caring about the loathsome folk they can say what they like and you'll be just fine!

However I am beginning to think that you prefer to see this as a war! Believe me it's easier just to let it wash over you...
