An Inspector Calls- Social Attitudes

Hi!
I am doing AIC and the question that I have selected for my CAT is "Explore the ways Priestley uses different characters to dramatise social attitudes in An Inspector Calls." My target grade for English is an A* but I dont know what I can say about this question and I find a few common things but I dont want to repeat myself. So if you can give me a few ideas of how you would answer the question that will be great.

Well Mr and Mrs Birling are capitalist sort of people as their attitude towards the girl is very judgemental, whereas Sheila and Eric have some empathy for her, presenting a socialist's point of view. Mr and Mrs Birling could also be seen as bad people because of what they say about the girl, especially Mrs Birling, and as Priestley was a socialist and Mr and Mrs Birling come across as capitalists, he may have used the characters to suggest to the audience that capitalism is bad.

I've studied the play this year but the question we had was slightly different to yours. Hope this helps! :smile:
