How would you feel if someone just walked into your house?

Unfortunately, this just happened like 10 minutes ago. My brother and my parents were downstairs working while me and my sister were upstairs. To get upstairs/downstairs, we have this metal stairs on the side of the house. The thing is that our door at the back of the garden which leads to the alleyway round the back is locked while the neighbour doesn't even have a door. He came in and asked 'Is this Flat A' and I was like 'Nah, this ain't Flat A, what are you looking for?'. He then replied something like 'Are you sure this ain't Flat A' and then asked 'Why the hell is your backdoor locked'. Then he went on to say it shouldn't be locked and he had to go through the neighbour's backdoor, climb over the fence (he was quite tall) and then up the side-stairs. I wasn't particularly scared and I'm 99% sure he didn't steal anything. The exterior door up here is usually not closed because we would have to keep opening it when we wanted to go upstairs/downstairs.

It's just like 'WHAT THE F*CK WAS HE DOING CLIMBING OVER THE FENCE, WALK UP THE STAIRS AND THEN JUST WALK IN LIKE THAT'. Also, he was about to go into the room with my sister in it because the TV was on. Then he saw me on my PC and asked where Flat A. At the moment, my parents don't know about it. I probably shouldn't tell them because they would go mental and blame me for not closing the door. I dunno if my sister knows but hope that she doesn't say anything because I'm going to make sure that the door is always closed now.

This guy is just so f*cking dumb man. You don't just bloody walk into someone's house like that. I basically had to tell him 3 times this is the wrong place. I wished that the fence between us and the neighbours was higher though. Our neighbours only use their garden to exit the house via the back or putting out the rubbish and therefore, have no need for it. However, since they don't have a locked door to the pathway outside, people could just simply walk through it and climb over the fence to get to us.

I live on the back of a pub and we often get people wandering through our front door asking if the pub has a hotel. It will be even worse now because the house is on the market.

Consider yourself lucky that this guy wasn't a nutcase.

Lock the doors.

Will definitely do. My sister has gone downstairs now and it looks like she had no idea. She might have heard me speaking and wondered who I was speaking to but she had the TV on quite loud. I just hate trespassing. I can't really blame my neighbours, even if it was their open garden which allowed access to my upstairs flat. We have lived here for nearly a year now, with the upstairs door usually open and have had no problems. If only I had wall-mounted machine-guns for security.....

You shouldn't need machine guns surely, or even just a handy fire arm, its not like most people want to come into your house and steal stuff, if they were a random person I'd be fine with them, there are only a few people who want to kill you.

It hapened to me on holday once, we were staying in the rep. of ireland, in a really isolated cottage. anyway, it was about 8pm,it was dark and we were all inside watching television, and we heard the front door opening. as you can guess we were completely freaked out: we were the only cottage for miles around!
Then the door to the living room opened (we were shitting ourselves by then) and it was the post lady!!!! she came with letters for the family who normally live in the cottage. I suppose it must be normal in ireland to come with the post in the dark at 8pm!she seemed to think so but it was quite scary!
