Mine are coming through right now, i'm 16 and i have two on one side of my mouth.

Some of my friends said they came through as early as 12, my mum had hers taken out at 19 after they started to come through at 16...

Mine started coming through at 17, they're still not fully through and im 18. I would have a month or 2 without ever feeling them, and then excrucating(sp?) pain for a week or 2. I think they're giving one last push at the moment:mad: Almost done

All of mine gave me agony! Ended up having them all pulled out at various times.

Reply 7

I was in complete agony, had the bugger removed in the end. I hope i don't get the same with the other 3..

Reply 8

i had 3 come after/whilst having my brace - when i was 15ish. tho i had teeth riovesd and pulled forward first so twasent too bad for me :P

Once they come through if they are impacted, i.e on their side, then they tend to get taken out but if they arnt causing any major problems they will leave them. Sometimes a dentist may do the procedure on there own but it is possible you could be sent to hospital for it to be done under sedation.
You'll have a bit of a swollen jaw afterwards but nothing too dramatic.

Why is this anoymous, there's no need for it to be.
Yeah I had a wisdom tooth start coming through a few months back it didn't really hurt that much for me so no problems.
But yeah if it does really hurt see a dentist.

Reply 14

Im 20 and i still haven't had any come through yet. :s-smilie:

Reply 15

mine are coming thru now and it's the most painful thing!!! but yeah see a dentist bcos i doubt it would be wise to remove them urself.

Reply 16

I started getting them at 15 i was told by someone bit confused why. However they may hurt to begin with but eventuaally stop. mine are still covered in the gum and are hardly out at all but every so often the gum sort of peels away :s: just didn't know you could get them removed at alll I don't know what the best option is bu if they causing great discomort see your dentist and discuss it further with them

When it hurts, take a small tsp of salt, dissolve it in a small cupful of water, and swill round your mouth with it (don't swallow it though).

Eases the pain. Oh and see your dentist as well if it gets any worse.

Mine started coming through at fourteen. One of the four is now fully through, two are coming through at the moment (I'm eighteen now, and I suspect I'm just unlucky). Number one piece of advice is to keep them as clean as you possibly can...it's when food starts to get inside the gum that it reeeeeeally starts hurting.

Saltwater - not tried that one yet. Thanks Cpfoxhunt

i started getting mine at about 15/16 whilst i was wearing retainers having had fixed braces. My orthodontist was getting all annoyed cos i wasnt wearing my retainers and i was like, it hurts to. I was getting to the stage where every month or two, one side of my face would swell up and i'd be in agony.

i eventually went to the dentist because of it and he took x-rays.

it turned out that all 4 wisdom teeth were growing impacted. as in, they were growing sideways into my other teeth. There was no way they were ever going to break the gums as they were growing the wrong way.

went to hospital, they whipped them out for me, under general of course.

had my gums stitched to my cheeks etc.

but in all honesty, it barely hurt. i'm one for moanin about pain, but it was no where near as bad as i thought it would be
