"Calculate the mass of steam condensing at 100C required to transfer 30.3kJ of heat."

I... what? Please can somebody explain how to do this to me like I'm five? I'm not a physicist (clearly), but I need to get through a thermodynamics unit.

You need the value of a constant called the latent heat of vaporisation for steam/water.
This tells you how much energy is given up per kg of steam condensed.

You'll find the value you need in this table (in kilojoules per kg)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latent_...f_latent_heats

The theory is here

Thank you, I didn't know where to begin.

So I did 30300 / 2.26 x 10^6
= 0.0134 kg

Is this correct?

That's correct.
You could also express that as 13.4g or 13.4 x 10-3kg
