Parents and school

Hi all

Would appreciate your suggestions on this small (!) problem.

We have a parents evening next week, but in true school fashion they didn't get around to giving out letters until the past week, then our awfully useless form tutor forgot about them so basically we got the letters to parents on Thursday. Being forgetful as I am, I shoved it in my pocket and forgot about it. Somehow then I need to tell them about it and no doubt get b******d for not telling them earlier... it's not possible to simply not go as the school will follow up on it.

Now my parents are highly -ve about me, and frequently tell me how I'm useless, failing everything, a waste of time - you know the stuff. Although my Computing report will be very good, the Physics one will be alright, but the maths one won't be - one teacher I get on with quite well, and he helps me where I have problems, whereas the other teacher I am at loggerheads with, she refuses to help me outside the lesson and is unhelpful with homework - basically telling me to "refer to my notes" and not explaining where I've gone wrong, what the right way of doing it is etc. So overall the picture isn't too good, especially since the parents will forget about the good things that are said.

Anyone have suggestions as how to tell them we have a parents evening very soon, and how to survive the fallout?

I know how you feel, i am really forgetful. But my parents know how forgetful i am, so they don't mind me forgetting important things and telling them at the last second. Get a friend(s) to back you up when you tell your parents that it was your form teacher's lack of organisation that delayed you telling parents about parents evening. Also mention that you're getting on really well in computing and physics, so you weren't trying to pretend parents evening doesn't exist.

Thanks, I shall give it a go, no doubt I'll have the wrath for the school's failings though... ah well.
