Can you explain exactly how the problem you are experiencing manifests itself? What do you mean by 'kills the radio?' Has this always happened or is it something that has started recently?

Also: what type and power are the LED lights (are they battery driven, mains driven, ceiling lights, table lamp etc?). How close are they to the radio. Is the radio connected to the same mains supply? Are they both connected to the same wall socket etc?

The light output from the LED should have nothing to do with any airborne radio-frequency interference whatsoever.

Both must meet stringent EEC Electromagnetic Compatibility (radio interference) testing before they can be certified for sale in the EU.

It seems the problem is quite common.
Which? and others are also looking into it.

It does not surprise me.

Cheap imports and unbranded makes cut corners with design and safety as we all know. There is no way to stop dangerous products getting into the UK because import controls cannot check every single item bought over the internet.

If the items are purchased through a major distributor, there will be controls to enforce legislative compliance.
