you could try a brita filter jug (for drinking obviously!) but other than that i cant help

i have the opposite problem...at home we have very hard water, at uni its soft.

so i find the tap water tastes weird, and make my hair frizz!

Its mainly for when i have baths, the hard water totally messes my hair up LOL

i know that you can attach somthing to the water tank, but thats bit awkard as its currently in the flat above us.

i've never lived in a soft water area in the Uk and here it's harder than back home... (makes water look murky when poured)...

as for filters, we had/have one back home for the shower and they are an absolute b*tch to keep cleaning... and really not worth it...

RO Water...

Heheh sorry, couldnt resist in my little fishy mind. RO would work though, since it takes out all dissolved solids, but its a long winded and expensive way of doing it :p:

i hate the way some people's water tastes so good, the ashdown forest has the best water in all the world :p:

I have gone from soft water at home to a hard water area for uni, and it's horrible. Soap doesn't lather properly, the water looks murky and dirty.

After uni I am never going to live anywhere where the water doesn't come from the Lake District!

I've never seen/used/tasted soft water.

Reply 8

I'm sure you can get hard water shampoo

How very dare you? Nottingham water rules

I fine the opposite true. Go on holiday, have a shower, apply shower gel. Oh no its so damned soapy ...simply wont go away.

What's the difference between hard and soft water... and how does one know what one has?

thats what I wanna know, too.I live in London,West London to be precise so whats the water here called?

I think I've got heavy water...

... BNFL are charging me £14,000 a litre for it.

Hard water has lots of dissolved mineral ions (specifically calcium) and suspended solids. Typically if you have a shower and the soap lathers really easily with a small amount, you have soft water, and if it does not, you have hard.

Reply 14

I think I've got soft water then

This map shows the hard water areas in England and Wales ...cant find one for the whole of the UK

basically look at your kettle, if its full of limescale..your in a hard water..if its clean and limescale free, then your in soft water.
