PGCE High Force Education Interview Tips

Hi All, I have been out the the education loop for a long time now, as its nearly 10 years since I left University. I have applied to a PGCE in Primary Education. My first choice is High Force Education, based in and around County Durham in the North East of England. I have just found out that I have an interview with them. Does anyone have any tips for the interviews in general or let me know what the format will be?

Thanks in advance

I've asked for this to be moved to the Teaching forum where there are plenty of threads about interviews .

Hi - I had an interview with High Force 2 years ago.
It was very competitive due to the limited spaces and I didn't get a place so not sure if I really should be giving advice

Trying to think back - we had to give a presentation - which was my downfall as I got so nervous that I didn't look at the interviewers once! I just read from cards. Hence why I never use prompt cards anymore and just ramble!

We had a maths test on the day - which was just to find out which areas you would need the most help in once you started the course.

Then the interview consisted of the usual questions:
Why a SCITT course?
Why do you want to teach?
Why should we pick you?
What qualities can you bring to the profession?
Example of a good/bad lesson.
What makes a good teacher.

My actual interview went well - but I messed up the presentation.
In a way it was a blessing in disguise as I was later offered a place at Northumbria - which was more suited to my needs.

Good luck and let us know how you get on!
