How about checking with the doctor about heat - surely he's the best person to ask. Ring up and ask the reception.

A hot water bottle seems a bit much however when I had ear aches I'd put a piece of cloth like a dry flannel or something on the radiator and then hold that against my ear. It seemed to help.

If anyone knows what i can do to help the pain. please post

I am taking really strong antibiotics, and they are making me feel sick.

Will a hot water bottle help?

Also taking paracetmol (checked with doctor and fine to take)

Only thing you can do is to keep taking the paracetamol your doctor has prescribed you - or ask for something stronger maybe, but it should feel better soon :hugs:

I had "glue-ear" up til the age of about 8 (3 sets of gromits blal blah blah) and it came back last year. My hearing got worse and I was referred to the hospital. Heat does help, but perhaps not a hot water bottle

Try putting your face up to a bowl of heat and do deep breathing for about 5 minutes. When you finish, hold your nose and pop your ears. It hurts, but it helps to open up the ear canal. It worked for me, but perhaps ask your doctor?

you can take ibuprofen every 4 hours and paracetamol every 4 hours. If you time it right yu can take tabs every 2 hours without overdosing - but not more than 6 of each in 24 hours (usually)

Inflammations can get worse by applying heat. I could imagine that keeping the ear warm by a flannel as suggested above might help though without making the inflammation worse.
Ibuprofen can help reduce inflammation. I would check with the doctor about taking both ibuprofen and paracetamol with the antibiotics. You might ask the doctor for a stronger painkiller such as Tilidine& Naloxon (Valoron(R)).
