Starred firsts

Might be a bit of a stupid question, but just wondering... :smile:

Can you get a "starred first" degree classification at any uni? I've heard the term used in relation to Oxbridge degrees and just wondering if other unis use this system too or if it's an exclusively Oxbridge thing.

Yeah - a starred first and a first have the same relationship as an A* and an A :smile:

Yes you can-although I'm only aware of them being given at Ox/cam, although they are like an A* at GCSE they are a lot rarer. I know someone who has a double stared first from cambridge. It was the first given out for her subject from that college in 15 years. There is no pass mark or quotas for starred firsts, just if you do an exceptional dissetation and consistantly well in exams ect.
