can't you go get it from the docs and pay prescription price?

I'd rather not have to go to the doctors - I'd be too embarrassed!

Thanks for the link, it's very helpful!
aww you should just to make sure its's not something else, i wouldn't want to see a male doc but i've seen a female doc and it was fine, not embarrassing. plus much cheaper than buying it!
you want to try the pessary - last time i had thrush i used the capsule and it didn;t work and the thrush returned. the pessary works SO well and is also cheaper - about £9.

other than this, i would recommend the doctor. it's free. it's embarrassing, but it's over in a minute.
Apparantly dipping a tampon in natural, live yoghurt and then inserting it can help to relieve the symptoms...

Have never tried it myself, but my friends swear by it :s-smilie:

Absolutely true. I'd never spend £9 on something essentially the same as live yougurt anyway, it's an absolute rip off!!

When I get thrush I dip a tampon in live (unflavoured!) yogurt and leave it in overnight, it's pretty much gone in the morning. And it costs all of 30p.

wow, that actually works? i didn't realise that it treated it - i thought it just alleviated it? i'll be trying that next time (i hope there's not a next time, obviously)!

go into your pharmacy and ask for a fluconazole capsule. They come as one capsule in a pack - ask for the generic as they can be sold at pharmacies now. Never buy dodgy pharms online

You dont need a prescription - just ask for the fluconazole and say it is for thrush. They should be polite and if they tell you about creams and suchlike, explain your case to the pharmacist. It shouldnt be a problem!
I had to get examined by a male doctor when I had thrush, but by that point I was so uncomfortable I didn't care who I saw! Wasn't expecting an exam though when I went!

Thrush is terrible but I found that the Canesten pessary combined with the cream works wonders.

I never knew that yogurt thingy actually worked. I dont use tampons though so i think ill stick with Canesten if it ever came back again.
Yeah I'd never heard of the yogurty thing before either!
Canesten eventually stopped working for me and I tried several other treatment until, by sheer luck I found proskin candida on-line. t works way better than the canesten and I haven't had another thrush infection since I started using this (almost eight months ago).
I tried this proskin also and found it was as good as they say it is. Doubtful at first though and it is expensive but now my thrush has been cleared up I've stopped grumbling about the hefty price tag.
