mixed race child appearance

Hey this may sound like a real wierd thread but my step sister is expecting a child, why is great :smile:

. However there is a massive debate in the family to how the child would look like? My step sister is full chinese, however her fiancee has very light blonde hair and blue eyes which is the confusing part.

Two thirds of my entire family are in mixed relationships between chinese and white british people including my parents :biggrin:

. I am half white and chinese and not surprsingly I have brown eyes and hair and I am much paler and pocess white facial characterisitcs like my dad. This is also the case for all my relatives but the thing i have noticed that everyone whom is white in the family has brown hair and dark eyes though. Making it very hard to predict how my step sister's child would look. Would anyone happen to know how the child may look like because its gonna take like 9 months to see :confused:

EDIT: 9 months !!??? I mean its going to be born within the next month or two.

Probably not. More likely it will look something like Kristen Kreuk (though probably nowhere near as hot).

I reckon it'll be one or the other .. kinda chinese or kinda light haired with blue eyes or whatever her partner has ...

I kinda have the same issue actually...
My Dad n his wife are havin a kid due in Jan ..
He's a white Brit with lightish hair and browny blue eyes, and she's a Moroccan .. with very dark curlyish hair and VERY dark eyes...

Hmmm .. that's made me wonder now!

Not always the case. My brother has dark blue eyes some how (with black pupils though) even though blue eyes is a recessive trait.

13.6% chance it would be blue and green eyes, and 72% chance it would be brown. But what the heck is allelic frequency???

Isin't it a bit different though if you were from east asia compared to european? I would think that it would be easier if someone from Greece/Turkey region to have blue eyes compared to someone whom is black or chinese.

poor guy! half-chinese yet still manage to get the ginger gene?
most mixed chinese/white guys are gorgeous with dark straight hair/eyes, can't imagine what a redhead one would look like

there must have been at least two genes recessive for the blue eye colour when your brother was conceived.

B - brown
b - blue

this man has bb and your sister either has Bb or BB (depending on her parents' alleles).

if she has Bb, there is a chance the child will have blue eyes. if she's BB, she child will have brown eyes but will carry the recessive gene and then HIS/HER children may have blue eyes, etc.

so, yeah, depends on what genes your sister has.

same kinda thing applies for hair colour.
