Battery life, screen quality, keyboard/trackpad quality and reliability are the most important factors for me.

Quad core @ 2.4GHz or higher.
4GB Ram or higher.
Must have 256mb or higher of VRAM.

I don't really mind about the screen size or mousepad.

Usually I have at least two laptops at any one time - one portable ultrabook (business class), and one heavier desktop replacement/performance laptop.

In terms of my requirements for my main laptop (the desktop replacement):
* High end quad-core.
* Decent enough dGPU.
* Good cooling system (and quiet).
* Enough storage bays (at least one 2.5" and one M.2/mSATA, preferably more.)
* Easy to remove CPU/GPU heatsinks, and easily accessible components.
* Well-known manufacturer with decent aftersales/warranty support.
