I read it once, its just full of biased crap in my opinion. Also they are not really compiled with statistics in the same way as the others which makes it even more biased.

It is at least one of the more interestingly written guides, but I don't advise buying it. Either borrow it from someone/somewhere or just read the couple of sections about the unis you are interested in while standing in a bookshop. If you do that in several different shops you can get the opinions from a good half a dozen guides and not pay anything!

Does this "virgin" guide list universities based on how easy it is to pull then?

Yes basicaly and they even get that bit wrong. I remember reading what they put about Salford saying you're stuck in the middle of no where etc. They failed to mention its nearer to Manchester city centre than Manchester Universiy is and its 15 minute walk to all the main bars in the centre.

its very very good if you are not looking for a traditional course. Everything in it that I've looked at has been factually accurate. But I'd borrow it from a library its not really worth buying.

When I read it thought it just seemed to only mention the stereotyped facts and ignore some of the rest. Is this new book out? if I so I will go to the library and have a look.

I haven't seen this book since 2001 so it may well be better now.
