Long story short I went out for a date with a girl on friday and it didn't go all to well.

Nothing majorly bad happened but at times there were awkward silences. I'm usually much more talkative then I was on this occasion I guess nerves just got to me.

When it came to our goodbyes we agreed the date could have gone smoother. She said she would call me and to be fair it's only been a day that's passed but I like closure so im thinking I should just call her, even if it's just to find out if she likes me or not and ask if we can stay friends. She's going abroad sometime next week but im not sure when.

I guess according to dating rules I might come off needy but I couldn't care less about some banal mind games. Do you think I should leave it ?

I personally would wait an extra day if it had only been one day, not because of any stupid dating protocols, but out of the fact that she herself may not know yet.
I mean obviously if you really want to call her, go ahead, but if you're hoping to actually have a future with this girl then I'd there really any reason to rush, apart from your own eagerness to know?

I would give it another couple of days and then call and suggest another date. I guesss there is a chance you will be blown out but equally she could be up for another try. Good luck.

I think you should give her a chance. So I think you should call her and let her know everything. I hope everything will be ok.

You can text her any time, but don't be all like "I love you so much, please be my girlfriend". Play it cool, be casual, don't lose your mind. Just send a quick text, something like "It was nice meeting you, I enjoyed our evening out. I'd like to see you again, let me know if you're up for it" or just something like that, I'm just giving an example. Don't make a big deal out of it, seriously. And don't send more than 1 text, if she doesn't reply then that means she doesn't want you. Simply send the text, and wait. Don't hold your breath.

I'd say to wait a few days with no contact whatsoever. If she hasn't made an contact within a week, text her saying it was nice meeting you last week or something casual
