Who's planning on studying at Solent in Sep 2015?

I got a place on the Fashion Styling course at Solent.
What are you guys planning on studying?
What halls are you thinking of choosing?
What do you think of Southampton itself, to live in?

Hi there

Congrats on getting a place!
I've got a place for Film Production which I have firmed. I also plan to stay at Deanery hopefully.
I've been to Southampton a few times before and it seems like a great city! The University and halls are all near the city centre which has pretty much everything we need and in terms of nightlife, I've only been to Sobar (which I enjoyed) but I have friends who have been to the other clubs like Oceana and Switch etc and they said that they're really good!

Most of the halls are actually relatively close to each other as well so we'll hopefully be able to socialise with other students even though they may not live in the same halls as us!

Both fashion styling and film production sounds very interesting subjects :smile:

I've got a place for criminology with psychology which I have firmed and I'm planing to stay at Hamwic.I don't know a lot about Southampton only the things that I have read and heard and it sounds very great city :smile:

hope meeting both of you this September and keep in touch until then :smile:

)) maybe we will be together in classes it's awesome knowing people before I get there that will be studying the same subject that I will and general..now about the accommodation my firm choice is hamwic I heard that is the "quite" place..but the point is if you want to have your own bathroom or not..the other things are the same everywhere I think

yeah we will have some together my lectures are a mix of criminology psychology and than crime studies :smile:

yeah it's lovely to know people I thought I was all alone for a little while! I'm thinking at the moment going for the cheapest option as there all the same really :smile:

I've heard its good there too..and I think that all are the same the only defence as I said before is if you want a place with your own bathroom or not :smile:

I'm going to be studying Sports Journalism in Sept. but I'm not sure where I want to stay yet. Anyone know the big differences between Deanery and Hamwick as I was originally thinking Deanery...:/

They are almost the same. Although Hamwick is smaller overall (200ish less rooms), and more of a quieter residence and it even has designated quieter areas. Not that Deanery is particularly loud, but in my opinion Deanery is the better residence because of its size and atmosphere. Can always find a flat having a party if you wish to meet new people etc

I'm going to be studying Social Work at Solent this September, and I've currently got the accommodation application page open now, giving final checks of all the options before I make my decision although my top choices right now are Hamwic and DMA, although looking at the posts on here, Deanery is the most highly praised.

Hopefully I'll see some of you in September, then!
