I'm doing AS law and I'm a bit confused about the differentiation between codification and consolidation within the Law Commission. What's the difference between the two?

Consolidation is where numerous acts are drawn together in a bid to make the law clearer and shorter.
E.G powers of criminal courts sentencing Act 2000 (brought 17 pieces of law together)

Codification is where it brings it together. A mix of statutes, cases, rules and academic opinions.
Restating everything into one single statute or legal code. But it usually done bit by bit to make it easier.
