I think there are a lot of people who do, but its best not to worry and wait for the right person. Uni is all about the degree and friendships, its not a brothel.

lol...a lot of people go to University as a virgin.

Don't worry though - you'll probably have lots of opportunities to lose it while there
I didn't but then I am in long term relationship, I haven't slept with anyone new since getting here! :P
I went to uni a virgin, as did about 8 or 9 of my close friends from school ... a year on and I think four of us lost it during first year (although I didn't lose mine until I got back home for the summer and started dating someone from home.)

When I got to uni, there were at least three other girls who were virgins in my halls (one of whom lost it, two were religious and saving it for marriage) and quite a few guys too.

Loads of people at uni are virgins. Seriously don't worry about it.
Yes I was, and I didn't lose my virginity until 3rd year when I was on Erasmus. I don't know if it's just my uni, but I found it impossible to meet guys since my course and halls were all girls, so I just didn't have the chance! But don't worry about it, it's not like anyone is going to ask if you're a virgin or not!
I went to uni a virgin this year. I am not any more.

Oh for pity's sake.

I've had one girlfriend (long term) before uni (and for a bit of 1st year) and only one sexual relationship since, the latter I rather wish I hadn't.

Despite what you see on TV, most people are not complete slappers and there are plenty of 18 year old virgins out there. Hell, there are plenty of 20 year old virgins too, I'd imagine (I can think of a fair number of my friends in that demographic).

Well said.

The influence of American Pie and american high school movies making it shameful to be a virgin and the media emphasise Britain has the highest teen pregnancy rate in Europe has a lot to do with influence.

Lol, our corridor and the one downstairs spend a lot of time in the same common room, makes 32 of us, the 20 or so of us that are usually there were in one night for a party. One of the people did a truth or dare thing, and it was all about sexual stuff... and so not relevent to anyone there bar 2 people! Wouldn't worry bout it.

Yeah i wouldn't worry i know lots of people that went to uni a virgin, including me. Really it's not a big deal. Plus i know people in their 2nd, 3rd n 4th years that are still virgins. Uni's not all about shagging around, well unless u want to that is.

actually i've not found that to be true... the subject hasn't arisen loads but quite a few people from my corridor have asked me how many people i've slept with, where the weirdest place i've ever had sex is etc. when i told them i that i haven't had sex most of them didn't seem to think much of it, but a couple of them really interrogated me about the reasons. i was quite surprised that they thought it was so unusual... and they just didn't seem to get that I just hadn't really felt like it lol. Sorry .. i'm not trying to worry the OP because it really wasn't that big a deal but I guess my experiences have been a bit different to some of the people posting here. No-one tried to make me feel bad about it or anything and maybe I just have a particualarly open bunch of people in my flat.

I know this is going off topic slightly, but I interpreted American Pie as satirising the attitudes of the guys who were desperate to get laid; certainly they aren't portrayed in a particularly admirable way.

my best friend from home is and my best friend here is.. the latter was seeing a guy here who decided to tell me exactly what they'd been up to so as soon as i felt it right to tell her he quickly was shown the way out.

sex isn't really a big deal here..

I guess American Pie is more about the guys, but anyhow even the girls in these films like Alison Hannigan's character (forgot her name) are acting desperate.

That's really nosy, I'd be offended if people who weren't even friends asked that. The only time I've ever been asked anything about sex was in first year when we were having a party in the kitchen, one guy asked us all if we'd ever been caught having sex, but it was a group question, not directed at one person.
