Unemployed PhD Geologist

Hi,
I did a PhD in geology in 2009 and since then I have been trying to find a job in this field. I have had no luck. Every time I apply for a job I get a reply saying you are over qualified. I've honestly tried really hard and still I've had no luck. I desperately need a job in this field because I really enjoy it and I did this PhD with pride and passion and I really don't want to waste this qualification. If I get a job in this degree, it can help me change my life and do more things for my kids and family!

So please, can you help me or give me some kind of advice on what I can do with my life. I would be really really grateful !!

Thanks !
Hey, im really hoping your the future me as im about to head to university in September and im hoping to study Geology. I would love to become a volcanologist or even a lunar geologist? Possibly petroleum geologist. My aim is to go to America after university and hopefully a post grad in the field i would love to specialise. Could you help me understand how anyone can be OVER qualified? Surely they would accept you no questions asked since your clearly more intellectual and.. QUALIFIED? Kinda scares me tbh. Also any tips you would love to have had before going into the Geology road. I cant wait to study more of it at uni, exciting! Good luck aswell!
Yoyo, do you specifically want to stay in Europe? 5 years is a lot of time to be looking for a job.
