hypothetical situation - clearing

I've firmed SOAS and insured Sheffield this year for single honours Japanese,
hypothetically, if I just missed the grades and was placed into clearing, would it be possible to reapply to Sheffield for Japanese and Linguistics for example? (obviously given that there are clearing places available)
What I'm basically asking is, is it possible to reapply through clearing to the same University that I was rejected from for joint honours including the subject I got rejected for?
I hope this question made sense, I don't think my wording was the best but I like to be prepared for the worst case scenario and it would put my mind at ease as I've really been stressing out about all this university stuff recently haha

If you miss your firm, you are passed onto your insurance for their consideration. This means that your insurance university has had the opportunity to consider you for an alternative course even before you have had your results, since they get them the weekend before you do. If, therefore, they have rejected you on results day, it means they have decided you don't have what they want for either course, so there would be no point in your applying for clearing. With a course as specialised as Japanese, they would be certain to consider you for any spare places before hoping to pick someone up in clearing, which is quite unlikely, so it really would be game over.

The university see your results before rejecting you. This means that if Sheffield say no to you then they probably won't say yes to you through clearing otherwise they would have just said yes to you first time round if that makes sense. You can reapply there again but there is no point. But as your chosen course isn't majorly popular I would assume they would give you a place even if you just missed out on the grades required. I don't want to give you false hope however
