Parents moved abroad - Maintenance loan/grant reduced Watch
I have applied for my student loan for the 2nd year of my course and found that my maintenance loan has gone down by just under £1000 and my maintenance grant of roughly £2900 has not been granted.
My circumstances have changed as my parents have moved to the US and are no longer able to contribute any money towards my living costs. I am a UK resident and have lived here my life. I am renting a room in a shared house and am not receiving any financial help from other family or friends.
To me, it seems that my financial situation is a lot more difficult now than last year, so I am wondering why I am no longer eligible for the maintenance grant, and why my maintenance loan has drastically dropped?
Even if your parents are not living in the UK they still have to support your application in order for us to fully assess you.
They can print the forms here http://bit.ly/1CC6tVw
Any earnings should be converted to Sterling & declared on the PFF2, this needs to be supported with evidence of the income for the tax year.
We can accept the following
- Letter from employer (confirming salary for the tax year)
- Accountant's letter
- Week 53 Payslip
- Month 12 Payslips
That's great, thank you! When I applied on the website it didn't give the option for my parents to input their earnings like last year.
If they fill in the form and I send it to Student Finance, will my application be reassessed?
Yes we will reassess once we receive the relevant form & evidence.
