Like going round eachothers houses for a spot of golf and baking cakes for the villagehall and meeting up for a few ales down the local village pub?

Sounds like my home in Cornwall...

Tends to be older people who lived in the times that Downton is set within. Also tends to be out in the countryside.

Basically anywhere rural can be like that, usually in small-ish villages. Yorkshire, Shropshire and Cornwall all spring to mind but maybe they're just the places I have most experience of.
