Here's something i've recently been wondering...

This isn't a 'how do I get him to like me' thread first of all, just to clear that up..

What I'm wondering is what do guys want from girls...i.e how do they benefit from having a girlfriend and why do they need them? I can see why a girl would want a boyfrend 'cos he can look after her/take her out, buy things for her etc., I just don't see what the bloke gets out of it ('cept maybe having something pretty to hang off his arm :P)

And don't go down the 'He just wants sex' road either, I mean the nice guys...

odn't guys want someone to to look after them, someone to cuddle and kiss, someone that you know you can implicitly trust and can rely on. someone you know will always be there and you know will have good times with. i think guys basically want the same things as girls in a relatioship. i don't think guys are all that different deep down to girls...

EDIT: No text talk please, fairycakes! Translated, but don't do it again

Because there's something you get from having a girlfriend/ boyfriend that you just don't get from friends. Obviously something physical, but mentally and friendship wise as well. That, plus there's a sense of security and feeling special about being in a relationship. I can't really describe any of it better than that...

I object to the implication that women want relationships because we are all materialistic, shallow and need taking care of. None of the reasons listed are an incentive for me to want a partner.

I don't want looking after, I can perfectly well do that for myself. I don't want someone to buy me things, I prefer to split costs for stuff and pay my own way so the relationship is balanced rather than me depending on him. I also don't need someone to take me out, I go out with my friends and go to societies.

No no no lol you misunderstand - I think I worded it wrong...I mean it does happen in some relationships, I'm not saying thats what girls expect
