Given that my fridge contains nothing but a rotten piece of cheese and half a carrot, eating the entire contents has little appeal.

Same. There's stuff like mint sauce and salad cream in there which on their own would be bad enough but I expect would be revolting when eaten in the same session.

The contents of my fridge aren't that appealing most of the time but I could happily clear the contents of my junk food cupboard every day if I thought I could get away with it.

I wouldn't want to eat the entire contents of the fridge..having a mouthful of margarine and jam isn't a hugely attractive option for me..

But in terms of wanting to eat loads in one go, its usually when I'm mildly distressed/fed up and want to comfort eat.

Healthy food is boring? Are you dumb? ,How is watermelon, apples, grapes, chicken, steak, potatoes, tuna boring? just to name a few. I believe you are getting mixed up between the common misconception of loosing weight in which you eat nothing and exercise more. Which is totally wrong, if you had any free time I would suggest reading through this, obviously not all, but have a flicker through http://simplesciencefitness.com/

No, I'm not dumb.

I think I'm aware of the difference between not eating anything and healthy food which is boring, and am not stupid enough to conform to such an idea. You have most certainly misunderstood me.
None of the foods you mentioned are particularly exciting.

No need to read it, I'm aware of what it means to be healthy.
