I'm investigating the difference in breathing rate for crickets at two different temperatures. I'm going to count the number of times it breathes per minute in order to work out the breathing rate, but because I'm counting the number breaths (discrete variable), does this mean I can't do a paired t-test? Do i have to do a Wilcoxon signed rank?

Also, can i use rates to carry out a paired t test?
