I don't want to take Triple Science

So in my school the higher sets take Triple Science in yr11, right now i'm in a higher set but i'm scared about taking Triple Science.
My grades are usually range from C- to B-. I'm not sure how the Triple Science system works but its AQA.
What do I do? and what units do you study in Triple science.

Don't worry, Triple Science is just like double science but a bit harder.

Units:

Biology

Movement of molecules in and out of cells
Transport systems in plants and animals
Homeostasis
Humans and their environment
Chemistry

The periodic table
Water
Calculating and explaining energy changes
Further analysis and quantitate chemistry
The production of ammonia
Physics

Medical application of physics
Using physics to make things work
Keeping things moving

What year are you in?? I do AQA, and I'm in year 11. Basically, there's two ways of taking triple science; seperate sciences (all units in one year) or core (C1, B1, P1), additional (C2, B2, P2) and further additional (C3, B3, P3). I do it the first way - and we've just finished all nine units.

I would personally say the third units are a step up from the previous ones, not too drastic, but to me they are noticeably harder. I think (especially in chemistry and physics) they become a little more math-sy, with the introduction of moments and lenses in physics and titrations and bond energy in chemistry. I would also say there are more 'out of the box' questions relating to the ethics of the science and other things that don't require calculations or much prior knowledge, but that might be me. It builds on previous knowledge as well, adding more in-depth sections on certain things.

I would talk to your teacher about what they think about it, but in the end it's up to you! The whole of year 11 should be enough to cover everything in the right detail. We learnt all nine units in roughly two years (starting in the Easter term of year 9 and finishing around now) and now we're just revising everything.

I'm in Year10 right now i'm going to take it in Year11 probably. I'm not sure which way they'll give me.

I assume if it's year 11 it will be the second way. Have you sat any science GCSEs so far in years 9 or 10?

Nope.

Nope.

I'd ask your teacher. Are you taking any science exams this year??

Nope, I would have been taking Core Science exams this year but the teachers stopped that.

Then I guess you'd be doing seperate sciences, like me! Feel free to message me with any further questions.

I would talk it through with your teacher, because we can't assess your whole situation on here. I would say it is definitely possible. In the end, however, it is up to you!

This is very similar to what I'm doing (except I'm doing Edexcel)
You have three exams and a coursework for each GCSE. Meaning you'll do 9 exams and 3 coursework. Each unit is 25% of the GCSE each exam is 1 hour and you'll walk it as long as you do exam practise. That's all it takes.

Here you can find the Specs and Schemes of Work (some of which you'll know):
http://filestore.aqa.org.uk/subjects/AQA-4402-W-SP-14.PDF
http://www.aqa.org.uk/subjects/science/gcse/chemistry-4402/teaching-and-learning-resources
http://filestore.aqa.org.uk/subjects/AQA-BIOL-W-SP-14.PDF
http://www.aqa.org.uk/subjects/science/gcse/biology-4401/teaching-and-learning-resources
http://filestore.aqa.org.uk/subjects/AQA-PHYS-W-SP-14.PDF
http://www.aqa.org.uk/subjects/science/gcse/physics-4403/teaching-and-learning-resources
You should be able to find a mark scheme for the coursework on the internet.
To anyone who is doing Edexcel Further Additional Science, I found this video which runs through the C3 June 2014 paper which I found very helpful: http://youtu.be/6JiZPeiKAhs
