If you had 3 springs with a spring constant of 6N/m each if they were in series would the overall spring constant be 2N/m and if they were in parallel be 18N/m? thanks

Yes.
In series they stretch more for the same load, giving a lower spring constant, as the spring constant measures "stiffness".
In this case they add like resistors in parallel.

In parallel they produce a stiffer overall spring and so increase the combined spring constant. In this case you add the values together like resistors in series.
