Thumbsucking?
Okay, the embarrasing bit:
I'm seventeen and i still suuck my thumb...
does anyone else on here still do it? is it weird?
and should i give up? part of me wants to because i know it's odd at this age, another part of me doesn't because it's a comfort thing and it helps sometimes. does it make me a freak and should i give up?
(my teeth arent affectd by it at all luckily.. ive got a bit of a lump on the thumb but nothing major)

i dont see anything all that wrong with it, as a calming thing - better than going out and smoking through 20 cigs to deal with stress!

But that doesn't stop it being one of the most embarassing and least sexy things a person can ever do, if you ever want to get laid, i'd give up the thumb.

You are probably orally fixated which could have resulted from early or delayed weaning from the breast.
I still suck my thumb too. I know I shouldn't but it's a comfort thing. 
well i used to pick my lips really badly. it looked ike i was sucking my thumb and also it madeo my lips either bleeding and chapped or with yucky scar tissue on it. i only stopped when i realised how embarassingo it was, esp when i was in a position where i was responsible for loads of younger kids and i realised how could i assert any authority if i looked ike i was suckingo my thumb? and it is a turn off for guys...!

Is there maybe a difference between doing it to drop off to sleep or in front of the TV when you're on your own; than literally having to stop yourself from doing it in front of people? i couldn't do it in front of someone i didnt know reaaaaally well, one boyfriend has seen me do it and even then it was wierd, like going to the toilet in front of someone.

I think it's okay as long as you only do it when you're on your own - other people have worse habits and as long as no one sees you, who cares?
Personally, I wouldn't give a ****. But you probably should stop.
I only do it when I'm alone watching Tv or going to sleep or something. I wouldn't do it infront of people.
I don't mean to sound intolerant but i do think it is really really wierd. When you think about it toddlers do it because it feels like being breast fed, I can't get why teenages would want to recreate that feeling. I feel harsh but just no part of me can understand how someone can do this when they get older, i find it pretty disgusting tbh.

I sucked mine until i was about 10. My mum used to tell me she'd put chilli pepper on it when i was sleeping. 
Would've worked on me lol!
I used to suck my thumb all the time, untill I was about 13. Now I still do it, ocassionally, if I feel ill or upset it is definatley a comfort.
It's probably best to give up if you can but you shouldn't stress out about it.
