What can i do in my gap year before a psychology degree? please!

hey, im taking a gap year starting from sept 07, im in yr 13 at the moment, because my predicted grades wernt really that great, and i hope for higher!!
anyway, im hoping to do a psychology degree, and was wondering what i could do in my gap year? has anyone done a gap year, with anything relevent to psychology, or what else did you do in your gap year? im not really into the whole trekking/travelling scene., but was thinking of going to spain for the year, and do something out there, because im doing A level spanish at the moment, but it's not really very useful for psychology!
any ideas would be appreciated please!

i posted here not in the gap year thing, because i dont suppose many psychologists use the gap yr one!

Maybe getting some work at elementary school would be great. That would be close enough to psychology and you might even get some extra points for your application for doing that, you never know:smile:.

You could try and gain some work experience in a relevant area, e.g. an educational setting, healthcare setting, social care setting, early years setting, business, etc. That would look good on your application and should help boost it if your grades arent as good as you wanted. Anything which would show that you have experience of working with people and have good communication skills, etc.

There are various gap year programmes that invlove volunteering in areas related to psychology. Things such as orphganages and schools are common, and health care roles also a possibility. "Teaching and projects abroad" springs to mind, although there are loads of others.

If you're interested in things like marketing, human resources and research, i'm sure there must be paid opportunities in the UK with various companies. i-to-i might have something related to psychology in business, but not sure.

I dont know about spain, you could look for a job in a language school or something. And don't forget about other Spanish speaking countries as i'm sure there are plenty of them, with lots of different possibilities.
