Why not?
A crap justification.

Personally see it as a waste of a degree but okay, that's just my opinion.

I would go with Exeter.

It's worth checking out the reviews of ex students for St. Andrews.

If you use it for something like law, it can actually be quite useful....if you complete your degree and then sit twiddling your thumbs humming in Arabic, then it probably is a waste of a degree

A lot of people do end up twiddling their thumbs. That's the issue. They end up complaining about how university is a waste of money.

Sorry but I wasn't asking whether I should do the degree but which uni to do it at....if you haven't any relevant advice then I'm not sure why you're posting:confused:

Do you mean the drop out rate at Andrews? Isn't it quite low?

No, I mean reviews from ex students:

Obviously everyone has a different view on these types of things, and things such as social life matter different amounts for different people. However, that thread isn't just one person's opinion either, so it's worth considering.

Well i know St Andrews is very popular among linguists because they offer such a variety. I can't tell you about the quality of teaching. Nor can i say the same for Exeter. The best advise i could possibly give is to look at the course content and see which appeals to you the most. If not, try going on an applicant day or open day. Hope this helps.

What's it like?? Is it true that it's really freezing and extremely quiet?

Edit: should say I live 300 miles away from there and hope to visit but it's looking unlikely

Depends on your interests. I would personally choose St Andrews, it has a world-leading IR faculty and the Institute for Iranian Studies.

Well, it was not intended as a justification, and thus should not be taken as one.

*Reads profile*

'Extensive experience in banking sector for someone my age.'

That's actually hilarious.

Hilarious as it may be, it's painfully true.

I don't think you follow: I was not questioning its truth, merely posing the contrast between your derision of someone else for studying what you take to be useless, and you being an aspiring banker, i.e. a contemptible profession attracting swathes of the most lamentable of people.
