Here's the situation...
If a professional was invited to speak at a conference attended by students, let's say a surgeon as an example. Would / could / should the speaker expect payment of their fee? I assume their expenses would be covered as expected.
Secondly, if an organisation was secured to sponsor the event, would they pay the fee? E.g. Royal college of Surgeons, NHS etc.

I assume the organisation sponsoring the event would pay the majority of the speakers fees as long as their business receives the required exposure.
