Hi there, I've been having some lower back troubles for a few months now which causes a lot of pain whenever I sit down and it has been progressively getting worse. My GP says it's a trapped nerve but the medication provided has not been working leading me to believe it is something more sinister.

Anyway I missed an exam because of this, does this sort of stuff come under a valid excuse for absence if I'm able to provide a doctors note?

Thanks!

I missed a few exams in third year of undergrad because I did my back in training and couldn't move really, I just got a doctors note and uploaded it to the university absence system. If I remember right they just averaged out my grade. We just got told explicitly not to miss any exams in fourth/final year and all would generally be okay.
