Hello, this is my first post here! I am a graduate in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

But this isn't about me. It's about my cousin who should be in year 9 this year but apparently his school doesn't have year 9?

After year 8, all students advance to year 10. Weird. What do you do when you finish school at 15?

I don't mean just him, this is the WHOLE year group. I understand some schools start GCSE early (while students are in year 9) but he's chosen his subjects and everything in year 8.

He says he's in year 10 but I really don't get the logic behind it.

Anyone know anything about this?

Never heard of a school doing it. At my school you pick all but one of your GCSE options in Year 8 and start them in Year 9 but you don't miss a year and you still finish GCSEs in Year 11 at 16, though many people also do an AS or two.

That's understandable and makes sense. It's get you prepared early.
