Hello! I've got an unconditional for this year for Broadcast Journalism, worrying I'm going to be one of the oldest there (I don't look it though!). Any other mature students starting in September?

Hey,

I'll be studying History in September at the ripe old age of 23. Not that big an age gap but I've been working since I left school and have forgotten most things about education. Are you planning on living in halls or commuting etc?

Hello! I forgot to say, I'm 28. I've been working since I left too, I'll be commuting from Newark (living with my parents for at least the first year, might get my own place again for 2nd/3rd year) You?

Hey Broadcasthopeful,

We have our mature students page on facebook. You will probably find more students on there.

I'm from the other direction, Burton on Trent, but I'm undecided as of yet. I'd be looking at working part time (nearer to home) at the weekends as I have a few commitments back home but I'm not sure about the commute during the week. I currently make a two hour round trip to and from work so it'd be nice to live in the city and not have to do that but it'd make sense cost wise to move to my parents, suck it up and make the journey. But then I'd be worried I'd end up just going to lectures and coming home without really interacting with anyone.

Yeah that's my concern too about socialising etc but I have friends in nottingham I might be able to crash with.

Hey! zoo biology? That sounds a lot fancier than history. What has made you decide to study?

I'll be 28 and studying TESOL & International Relations, seen the city and like the look of it, was in an office jobs for the last 7 years where prospects are horrible so decided a career change. May attempt to live in the city as from Birmingham and try and get a job for the time I am here.
