Being immature

How come I am 20 and still think like a child? For example I always have to get revenge on people, I get mad when my dad swears at me and always swear at him back, refuse to do a job if my parents say I don't do anything, blame how my mum treated me as a child for the way Ive turned out. I just get annoyed:confused: I think like a 6 year old and when my 7 year old cousin tells on me (for eg jumping from the bottom 4 stairs) I strongly feel like punching him and getting revenge. Mature adults don't think like this though, if a child tells on them they just think 'oh he's only a kid' but I can't do that:confused:

Or do adults think like I do but just not act on it? Is there something wrong with me somewhere lol?

I don't know if its any consolation to you but some 50+ drunk told me in the pub when I was about 17 that he thought the exact same way that I do, to be honest, as each birthday passes, I don't feel particularly more mature, it's the experiences that you have in life that 'make you more mature'

lol trust me plenty of adults think like you, some just choose to bottle the thoughts up like you do.
Obviously you like to be incontrol and when your in a situation where your not in control, you have to try and make yourself in control again.
For example when your cousin tells on you, hes in control your not, you hate that and perhaps feel hitting him would put you in the driving seat again.
Same goes for the other things you mentioned if you think about it..

Oh, thats good to know, even if he was drunk:p: Yea you could be right but other people tend to shrug things off (ie my cousin) whereas I always want revenge.

are you a guy OP? cos that would explain being immature...hehe :P but seriously, maybe it depends on the people you hang around with? im the youngest in my year at university so am quite mature for my age with most my friends a couple of years older than me, dont know whether that makes a difference or not?

Yes that could be it, my parents have always said that im a control freak but Ive never understood why. Though when my dad swears at me how does that put him in control, and how does answering back give me control?

I think about revenge every day of my life, it's whether or not you act upon it

Because whoever gets the last word feels in control basically.

or they maybe adults just learn that which things are worth getting stressed about and which things to just let go. i think maturity has a lot to do with experience, life experience and experience with people. but u can only get these by living, and it takes time...!
