Clarification of M2 Specification [OCR]

In the OCR specification for M2, it says:

Equilibrium of a Rigid Body

Candidates should be able to:frown:a) calculate the moment of a force about a point in two dimensional situations only (understandingof the vector nature of moments is not required)

(b) use the principle that, under the action of coplanar forces, a rigid body is in equilibrium if andonly if (i) the vector sum of the forces is zero

What exactly is the bolded part referring to? What does it mean by the vector nature of moments?

You don't need to calculate moments by taking vector products.
