So basically, we have to do english literature at GCSE, the teachers aren't teaching us, it wasn't my choice, I hate Literature and what's worse is that they say that our English Language grade won't count if we fail Literature! How is that possible??? Is it true? I have such less time left and I've heard that language is the one that counts, now I hear that language wont count if I fail literature which I'm probably going to do anyway!

English literature and language are separate GCSEs.
Therefore, both of them count.

They're wrong. For students they are separate GCSEs and count separately. They may have misunderstood the fact that English Language only counts for school league tables if the student is also entered for GCSE English Literature (though it doesn't matter how badly they do).

I just didn't understand how english literature could possibly determine whether my english language grade counts or not? It's fine now, maybe the school misunderstood

I hope so. They scared me when they said literature determines whether the english language grade counts or not.
