testicular cancer
Hiya everyone, found a lump on my testicle 6 weeks ago and went to doctor, i was refered for an ultrasound and the consultant now wants me to have tumour markers and another scan, im worried its testicular cancer, im 19 and unfortunately he said it is quite likely looking at the scan. Im worried however im ok, just looking for some advice, anyone with any experience of this matter

I'm sorry about that, I don't know anyone whose had it but I'm sure there will be like support groups for sufferers of it that you can get in touch with

hey, 6 weeks isn't really that long really, even if it is the worst case scenario....
i had a scan once but got the all clear so can relate to the initial nervousness if nothing else....
when is is ur next scan by the way?... i'm glad you went to the doctors so quickly, one of my old teachers once had it in his 20's, left it a long time until it was a 50/50 chance of a full recovery... luckily he made it through, but learnt from his mistake and was a good campainger for taking action when lump is found...
i'm sure u'll be fine... keep me posted

I'm not exactly too knowledgeable about testicular cancer personally, but my advice to you would be to read 'It's not about the bike: My Journey back to Life' - Lance Armstrong's book about his battle with testicular cancer - a truly remarkable, inspiring and insightful look at how cancer affected him, and how he went about treating it. He talks about how he read about the disease, how he coped with it, how he did things differently (ie eating), just to give him the best possible chance of survival. A truly touching story.
