Tips for using the Spanish subjunctive

Hi there,

We hope this message finds you well.

Today we want to write about the subjunctive in Spanish. We know many of you hate it. However, using it in both your essays and oral exams is very important. It will boost your mark.

There are different ways to learn how to use the subjunctive. Among all, we find very useful to learn some fixed construction that need the verb to be in subjunctive afterwards. These are:

No creo que.... (I don´t think that....)
Es importante que.... (It is important that....)
Para que... (so that.... / in order for them to.....)
Si fuera, tuviera, hubiera..... (If I were, If I had, I there was....)

Learn the above constructions by heart and try to use them in your essays and oral exams. Your mark will improve tremendously.

Best of luck,
