Hi, I'm starting an MSc in Palaeobiology at Bristol this September and need a place to live. I'd like to live in a houseshare with other postgraduates, and was wondering if anyone else was looking to do the same? (Also, I don't really know where to start looking area-wise so if anyone who knows Bristol has any advice it would be appreciated!)

Thank you

Hey, I'm starting an MRes in Animal Behaviour in September and also need to find a place. Not sure when I should be getting it sorted by really! I like the look of Clifton and it looks quite close to uni, but yeah any advice from current Bristol students would be great.

Good areas are Clifton (expensive), Redland, Cotham, Montpelier, Southville, Bedminster. Avoid St Pauls or Stokes Croft unless you like alternative/hippy/run-down.

Good place to look for spare rooms in existing flatshares is : http://student.spareroom.co.uk/
Or the Student Union's own letting agency : http://ubulettings.co.uk/

Hey there! I'm quite in the dark too (as you can tell!) there seems to be a lot of help if you want to live in uni accommodation but not so much for private accommodation Are you looking for a house share?

Thank you for this! I've already put an ad up on spareroom.co.uk Are all those walking distance to the uni? I think I've been to Clifton before when I visited a friend in Bristol a couple of years back... I remember it being fairly close ?

Bristol is much smaller than people think. So although these sound like separate suburbs they are mostly within a 10/20 min walk to Uni. Southville & Bedminster are south of the river so a bit further away but still within a walk from the centre after a night out.

Typical student areas are clifton village, up and down whiteladies, redland, cotham. Slightly further out to hotwells too.
So I'd look around there, all within around 25 mins at the furthest edges.

Yeah, I've got an ad up on spareroom, but no response yet: http://www.spareroom.co.uk/flatshare...are_id=3982327

There's also a postgrad housing event on at Bristol uni in August but it costs 120 quid Would be nice to find some like-minded people on here before going house hunting (and without having to pay so much!) When are you looking to move/what kind of monthly rent did you have in mind?
