am i going something wrong in the gym?

i do some running, rowing for around 15 minutes then move on to the weights.

i have very skinny arms and started on weights like 50 which were near impossible to hold and i can only do like 6 reps.

people had came up to me and suggested that i start on lower weights like 15kg.

watching how other stronger people go, then lift mostly 15-50 on the machines that i use..

did i jump in the deep end too quickly? i want strength...but still quite unsure how to do it...

should i do 15kg to begin with and slowly move up 5/10kg every 2 weeks?

i also notice how my right arm seem to work out faster than my left arm, how do i remedy this?

Single arm exercises should work for your arm problem.

No idea what to say about you doing big weights since I do them myself...6 reps on amazingly massive weights. So I would say your not doing anything wrong...but then I am not a gym instructor.

But yeah...single arm exercises should work to get that left arm up to speed with the right arm.

Of course you are meant to start off at a weight you can manage to do, then work your way up to increasingly higher weights. Ask one of the gym people at your gym to sort you out a programme or something or just ask for some advice.

6 reps seems like a good number to start on, if you really want to do isolation exercises. Try doing 3 sets of 6 reps.

Do this at the highest weight you can achieve completing all of your sets without compromising your form.

a programme costs 25 pounds for a 10 week. so :s-smilie:

anywhere, so 15kg is a good base to build muscles from right?

Depends what you're doing, for arm exercises such as bicep curls 15kg isn't a bad starting point. If you're benching or doing any of the rowing movements it's probably too light. Get the programme, it'll explain what you need to do better than anyone can on here.
