Retaking this module, along with C2. I've completed some of the past papers, just need to go over inequalities, sequences and series, and coordinate geometry. I'm just hoping to get and A this time round.

Idk bro. But what I have seen in every paper is that there is always 1 tricky part for a question where you have to think hard. Hope we dont get stuck in any question.

Rationalise the denominator of the LHS equation and divide by p.

You now have:

(2sqrt(p)-1)/(4p-1) = (2sqrt(p)-q)/(4p-1)

If we look at the top line we see that we have:

2sqrt(p)-1=2sqrt(p)-q

therefore if we set q = 1, we get the top lines of both equations being the same.

therefore on the bottom we have:

4p-1=3p+1

Solving this we get that p = 2

Therefore:

q=1
p=2

I do not want to sound stupid but there is no unique solution to this problem.

there are infinite solutions so what does it mean solve?

where is this question coming from

It isn't a official C1 paper by edexcel, I found it here:http://m4ths.com/core-a-level-extension-papers.html
