Sixth form attendance

Ok so we're now in year 13. What's everyones attendance been like?

I'm not sure if I should be worried really, for some reason I've been regularly missing 2 days per week for no real reason, I'm not missing any work because I work hard at home during the day while I'm away - I just can't be bothered going to school anymore?

Anyone else having this? What to do! I know this won't affect my A levels cos I'm still motivated to work. In fact I do more work when I'm away then when I'm there. Apart from being on my own all day what other affects will this have?

I'm a Y12 and my attenndance is pretty bad, I go to most lessons but I have an absurd amount of frees in hte morning, yes i sleep in them. Wouldn't be a problem but we'ew supposed to be in school for all lessons until after crimbo.

I'm in year 13. When I was in year 12 my attendace was really good - at christmas it was 99% but at the end of the year it went down to 91%, but that's still pretty good.

Now, in year 13 i've been missing alot more lessons mainly because of laziness:p: my attendance is usually in the 80-85% range. Our 6th form operates a minimum attendance level of 75%.

I'm in my first year of A levels and my attendance is awful. I'd say it's like 70% or less.

I am definitely going to make sure my attendance is better after Christmas though.

I've only had 1 day off of term so far. I do seem to have at least 1 day off a month though cos of the workload.
In all honesty, how much it matters depends on your own style of working. If you are happy to be self-taught, and are still getting grades that are the same or better than grades you got when your attendance was fine, then there is no need to worry. So long as you are getting the best grades you can and are doing well, without your school on your back about your attendance (as that may affect predicted grades etc, even though it shouldnt*), there should be no problem - after all that's all the lessons are intended to do - get you the best grades you can.

*I know the OP is in year 13, and will have already done UCAS, but it's the best example for lack of attendance issues I can think of.

I had 100% attendance in Year 12 and have 100% attendance thus far in Year 13
I haven't missed many lessons apart from the odd hospital appointment.

In my experience, those people who do not attend are often the ones who are least likely to be able to self-teach. You are almost certainly going to do better with a teacher and your own work, than just your own work. There are some rare exceptions, but I would not be surprised if poor attendance shows a strong correlation to poor grades.

My attendance so far has been 100% as it was last year aswell. However 2 days a week I have to go all the way to college for one lesson which is a waste becuase all we do is copy from the textbook or do practice exam questions which never get marked and therefore there's no point in doing them.   Therefore i've decided not to bother attending because I could get way more done at home...even though it means me sacrificing my EMA I really don't care because getting into the uni I want is far more important.

I usually go in every day but skip the odd lesson here or there, not often though. My problem is that I don't go in when I have free periods so I have a pretty shocking record for being late!
I think the only times I ever missed school in sixth form was for uni interviews and open days, but that's because I'm a goody two shoes and I'd feel so guilty if I bunked a lesson :o: I guess if you're getting more work done at home and you still feel confident that you'll get good grades, it's not a problem, especially since your subjects don't require debate and discussion. You may be missing some practical work for physics and computing though.
Been there every lesson so far - I thank the immune system, everyone else in Maths but me (5 people) was ill for a week, so I just sat in the corner of the classroom away from the germs :p:
That said, my mid-term report had a dubious 10/21 Physics attendance, due to when I changed to it from History at the start of October :p:

hmm...I haven't been to a m1 lesson in..well will be 3 weeks next week =P but i learnt all the stuff in physics plast year so don't see the point. Well I dunno, it dragged down my predicted a2 grade from A-B O.o
Depends how strict ur school is...

I always missed Sociology lessons when I was in school. I just couldn't be bothered going to them, so I didn't . Head of year wasn't too impressed though :p:.

Well for me (the OP )my attendance has dropped (~60% attendance atm) after my predictions/UCAS has gone. Only thing left for me to do is meet my predictions, I feel that everything I'm doing can be self taught and so far I've basically self taught C3 and C4 whilst doing a lot of FP1 & PH4 in my own time as well (those 4 are my January modules).

i attend more because i like it so much more
same as the op i think. last year i had about 94% attendence, this year i have 80%. i hadnt actually skipped a lesson until last monday and i was feeling pretty rough but up until about the end of november i had at least one day off, not including my study day. Mostly due to laziness and lack of motivation.
Our college does say attendance equals good grades, but so far ive not had anyone ask me where i've been.

I dont think i can self teach myself but i do a lot of independant learning, which i suppose is similar but not exactly the same.

I am trying to improve my attendance, i had 2 full weeks at college just recently, but im too ambitious to let myself get behind, i only take days off that i know i can afford to without letting my grades slip.
My attendance is dreadful, partly because I get every illness going round and partly because I lack the motivation to go to these lessons. Quite often I feel it's more productive to do work at home; my history class mostly consists of doing storyboards.

It's odd that so many of us lack motivation just when we get to study what we like after so many years of being told what to do.
