Most theoretical and maths heavy Computer Science courses?

I'm looking at doing computer science/computing and thoroughly enjoy the maths part of it. Although I don't hate the practical side, I'd just rather do the theory.

So which courses at Uni's would be best for me?

I know Cambridge is theoretical. Is imperial too?

Most top unis will have a heavy slant on the theoretical aspects - after all comp sci is a subset of maths.

That said, you'll still come across some practical sessions where you have to use the theory you have acquired to implement code.

I'd look at:

Cambridge, Oxford (very very mathsy), Imperial (can be fairly practical), UCL, Warwick, Southampton, Bristol, Bath, Nottingham, Birmingham etc.

Oh okay. Are there any particular thing (e.g modules) I should look out for on the course that would show its largely a theory based degree?

Look for Algorithms, Data Structures, AI, Computer Vision, Computer Graphics, Knowledge Representation, Logic, Concurrency, Automata theory, Number Theory, Computational complexity, Machine Learning.

Also, maybe consider doing a joint honours in Maths and Computer Science if you love maths that much.
