Can someone explain to me why there is relationship between type A personality and heart disease?

It probably has something to do with lifestyle. Not quite sure what A personality is, I'm a medic so I know more abt the biological part of it but type A seems to be "the stressed one" and as we know stress raises blood pressure and this can lead to hypertension which is a massive risk factor for heart disease.

Those with a Type A personality are more likely to be wound up, hostile and stressed. As you know from studying stress, it can lead to adverse health effects - such as high blood pressure and higher levels of the hormones adrenaline and cortisol. These can lead to heart disease.

Hope this helps, it may not be entirely correct as I did AS psychology last year and my memory of this is a bit patchy
