Hello, so I'm doing some coursework about E.coli fermentation and needed to check something. When E.coli is respiring, is it the same as humans in the way that it only produces acid by-products (i.e. lactic acid) during anaerobic respiration. Because I've heard conflcting things that during aerobic respiration the e.coli can make the environment more acidic due to acidic by-product production?

Could anyone clear this up for me?

cheers
