Whenever they feel ready - it's a personal decision. Some people may feel ready at 16, other not until they're 20. Either way, as long as you are happy with your decision, it's fine.

I lose mine at 19, ticket 15-18, losing it in sixth form would have been good for my confidence. Doesn't really matter after you've lost it though.

For being insecure about it? On here 19 year old virgins may be typical, but I found that once you are 18, it starts feeling like a real label, like "oh, really, you're still a virgin?".
