Contact Lenses

30 Mins ago I accidentally rubbed me right eye - then I can't see so I dont know if the contact is still inside as I didnt feel or see it coming out

Should I worry? I searched the floor - no sign of it, still paranoid its stuck in the back of my eye

Also is it possible to swim or have a shower with contacts on? Im going to get the 30-day continous ones next week and inevitably Im gonna have like 15 showers in 30 days - so ca I still wear them

Thanks

if you can't feel anything more than likely its just falled out somewhere....

as for swimming/showers... my dad has those 30 day ones. I believe he takes them out for showers and if/when he goes swimming just because there is a greater chance to lose them i guess...

but he only needs them for reading really so doesn't need them then anyway.... i'm sure when you get them they will tell you when you can/shouldn't be wearing them...

The one that apparently fell from my right eye - well I didn't FEEL or SEE it coming out, I immediately looked at the carpet and my clothing for 5 mins and couldn't find it. Then at work (for the last 6 hours) my right eye was very irritated, it got watery etc

I always wear my contacts in the shower, and I swim with them only if I have a decent pair of goggles, but I also have a pair of prescription goggles just in case. It probably just fell out, it's unlikely to be stuck in your eye somewhere, although if your eye is irritated then it's possible. Bear in mind that your rubbing it probably irritated it, or you rubbed it because of some irritation, so who knows! :p:

My eyesight is -7, and I used to play water polo three times a week. Goggles were obviously not allowed, as they would be a serious hazard, so the only way I could see was wearing contact lenses. They were a minor annoyance, and occasionally I lost a few in the water, but there was no real problem. They turned out to be a tremendous asset. I wouldn't wear the 30-day ones in the pool without goggles, though - it would be too much of an expense if you lost them!

Putting eye drops in is enough to make mine fall out, so I think swimming is out of the question.

How would eye drops work in your eye if you had contact lenses in? Surely you would take them out?

I mean those drops that you put in to sort of rehydrate your eye when your lenses are iritating you

Ah right ok sorry

its probably just came out, have a look in the mirror if you can see it, if not its fallen out. they just go to the back if you sleep in em because of a lack of oxygen/water. Its recommended that you dont shower/swim in them because the water isnt as clean as the contact lens solution and can lead to irritation/infection.

if your worried run down to your optition, they'll be happy to check your eyes out

I've got the monthly ones now - how do I wash my face esp. the eyelids every morning AKA wipe the sleep from my eyes?

I thought you weren't supposes to swim in them because of the chemicals in the water or something like that?

I've showered wearing my contacts before and only swum in them once - that was when it was the last day of wearing them. It was so fab to go to a water theme park place and see everything clearly!

Why would you be wearing them then? Wash your face first and then put them in!
